It’s a well-known fact that Italian cuisine is beloved the world over. And like so many delicacies that are enjoyed by individuals from all walks of life, pairing the perfect glass of wine becomes essential for any special occasion. Today, we’ll present this guide that will allow you to pair both items together perfectly.
Many Italian dishes contain pasta. As such, learning how to pair the right wine becomes essential. If you’re having a fish, such as Fettuccine Alfredo, or something that’s served with white sauce, a white wine, such as Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio, is usually the best choice. A chianti or merlot will pair exceptionally well if you’re having a pasta dish served with red sauce, such as spaghetti.
Here in America, we load up our pizzas with a wide array of different toppings. In Italy, pizza is made with fewer ingredients, and the simplistic offerings, such as the Neopalotin and Margherita, are usually paired with a chardonnay.
Garfield’s favorite dish is one of the most popular in Italian cuisine. With multiple filling layers and filling ingredients, a light-bodied wine makes the flavors stand out a bit more. Consider a zinfandel or rose wine to leave plenty of room for the meat, pasta, and cheese, and possibly leave enough room for dessert.
Pairing the right wine with ravioli depends upon how the ravioli is served. While beef is the most common filling here in America, traditional Italian ravioli comes with various fillings. If your choice of filling is beef, a red wine such as a merlot will be ideal. Red wine also pairs well with mushroom ravioli, but cabernet sauvignon is preferred. Cheese ravioli, on the other hand, can be paired with either red or white wines, leaving a wide variety of options open.
