There’s no denying that pizza is one of, if not the most popular dishes. Served in a vast array of different methods, with an almost never-ending amount of toppings, it’s easily the most customizable food item in the world, and the variations that emerge seem to grow by leaps and bounds on a daily basis. The question is, what is the original combination? What was the blend that began it all and started the pizza on its upward trajectory in popularity and affection? Well, to answer that question, we need to travel all the way back to Italy in the late 1800s and its queen, Margherita di Savoia.
The pizza that started it all, which is known as the Margherita, is composed of some very unique ingredients and is still served inside and outside of Italy to this very day. Its three main ingredients, tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil, are included to represent the three principal colors of the Italian flag (Red, white, and green.). Here at Russo’s New York Pizzeria, we adhere to the traditional Italian recipe to give our customers a truly authentic taste of the Pizza that started it all.
Unlike the typical cheese pizza that’s commonly found in most American pizza parlors, the Margarita is composed of a variety of ingredients to give it its authentic taste.
Here at Russo’s New York Pizzeria, we always strive to give our customers the authentic Italian taste that’s been passed down for generations. Discover our amazing selections today when you visit us in The Woodlands at 3335 College Park Drive, Suite 300.
